'Two And A Half Men' Star Conchata Ferrell Dead At Age 77

Conchata Ferrell, who spent 12 years portraying housekeeper "Berta" on Two And A Half Men, has died at the age of 77. According to Deadline, Ferrell passed away "as a result of complications following cardiac arrest." The site noted she "died peacefully surrounded by family" at an LA-area hospital.

Ferrell had been in and out of the hospital for the past many months. She had a kidney infection in December that kept her in the hospital, then she was hospitalized again in May for symptoms stemming from it. During her stay, she went into cardiac arrest for 10 minutes and remained in the ICU for four weeks. In July, she was transferred to a long-term care facility.

Ferrell was twice nominated for the Emmy for Outstanding Supportive Actress in a Comedy Series. Her castmates took to social media to pay tribute to her. Charlie Sheen tweeted, "An absolute sweetheart, a consummate pro, a genuine friend, a shocking and painful loss. Berta, your housekeeping was a tad suspect, your 'people' keeping was perfect."

Meanwhile, Jon Cryer tweeted about Ferrell as well, writing, "She was a beautiful human Berta’s gruff exterior was an invention of the writers. Chatty’s warmth and vulnerability were her real strengths. I’m crying for the woman I’ll miss, and the joy she brought so many."

Adam Sandler also paid homage to her, writing, "RIP. Great lady. Will be missed terribly. So sorry to her family."

Ferrell is survived by her husband of 34 years, Arnie, and their 38-year-old daughter, Samantha.
