Just 12 days into this year's Atlantic hurricane season and there's a new system getting the attention of forecasters.

Right now, it's a disorganized area of showers and thunderstorms in the western Caribbean Sea that's expected to cross the Yucatan Peninsula and move into the Bay of Campeche over the next few days.

Officials at the National Hurricane Center says it has a 20 percent chance of becoming a tropical system by Saturday if it doesn't fall apart before reaching the waters of the Gulf of Mexico.
