Gulf System Not Expected To Develop Before Landfall

An area of showers in the storms has run out of time to develop in the Gulf.

The National Hurricane Center now says it is unlikely the system will become a tropical depression before moving onshore the coast of Texas later today, but it will still bring some heavy rainfall and gusty winds to parts of Texas and northeastern Mexico through Saturday.

Forecasters continue to watch Tropical Depression Issac, moving swiftly westward through the Caribbean.

"Vertical shear has decreased near Isaac, with some outflow in the western semicircle noted and consolidation of the convection. Still, this area of the eastern Caribbean isn't known as the graveyard for nothing, and the system might just be too shallow and disorganized to take advantage of the changing environment," read a Friday discussion from the National Hurricane Center on Issac.

While the official forecast calls for Issac to dissipate early next week, the system remains one to watch to see if it survives long enough to become a threat for the Gulf.
