Historic 2020 Hurricane Season Comes To An End With 30 Named Storms

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration is closing the book on the 2020 Atlantic hurricane season.

According to the NOAA, the season finished with 30 named storms, 13 of which became hurricanes, six listed as major, with Laura tying for the greatest strength in Louisiana history and Iota as the strongest storm.

Officials say there were a record-breaking 12 landfalls in the U.S. this season, with five hitting Louisiana and southeast Louisiana in the cone eight times.

The 2021 hurricane season officially begins on June 1.
